Cushendall, an area of outstanding natural beauty is situated in the Heart of the Glens of Antrim surrounded by Lurig and Tievebulliagh mountains on one side and the sea of Moyle on the other.
Heart of the Glens Festival is an extremely successful community festival running since 1990. It is held every August in and around the village of Cushendall with many locals and visitors alike making it their annual holiday. The 9 day festival covers a wide range of events for all age groups and promises to provide enjoyment and entertainment for all the family.
The committee are a dedicated group who meet monthly throughout the year to plan the festival and endeavour to provide a wide and varied programme for all age groups.
The festival relies on the generosity of the people contributing to the two collections that we carry out during the week. This, along with the sponsorship money donated by the business people of the community is usually the only capital we have to work with. We occasionally have opportunity to apply for funding for some specific events.
Stewards are invaluable to the smooth running of the events. We have a number of regular stewards but are always on the look out for new ones who are encouraged to come along to help out even at one event during the week. The committee are always very thankful to these volunteers who work away in the background and who are indispensable.
