A new addition to the festivals’ calendar in 2007 was the introduction of a Christmas fair. The fair was held a week before Christmas and all stall holders were from the local area providing arts, crafts and local produce.
‘Santa’ was in attendance much to the delight of all the children and adults visiting the fair enjoyed complimentary mulled wine and had the opportunity to chat with friends over coffee and cakes.
Feedback from stall holders and those attending the fair has reinforced the decision by the festival committee to make this an annual occurrence.
Saturday, 12 December 2009 in Cushendall Parish Centre from 3pm-6pm.
The festival committee organise a candle light service in the local cemetery on New Year’s Eve every year. It is an opportunity for families to join together and remember their loved ones who are no longer with them.
There is a short service in St Mary’s Chapel followed by prayers and hymns in the adjoining cemetery when people place candles on their family graves. If families are unable to attend the service festival committee members ensure a candle is placed on each grave.
The service is led by the local priest with the ‘Glens Choir’ providing superb accompaniment.
